The storm surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia refuses to settle. The popular podcaster and founder of Beer Biceps has now approached the Supreme Court, seeking to club the multiple FIRs lodged against him over his contentious remarks on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. Meanwhile, Raina, currently in the U.S., has requested more time from the police to respond to their summons.

A Joke That Shook the Internet

What started as an offhand remark has now snowballed into a national controversy. During an episode of India’s Got Latent, Allahbadia posed an unsettling and deeply inappropriate question to a contestant:

“Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in once and stop it forever?”

The crude nature of the question sent shockwaves across social media, triggering widespread outrage. Clips of the moment spread like wildfire, with netizens condemning the blatant insensitivity and lack of judgment displayed by the panel.

Legal Fallout: FIRs, Summons, and Government Action

The backlash swiftly turned into legal trouble. The Maharashtra Cyber Department registered an FIR against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and other artists associated with the show, citing their involvement in producing “obscene and vulgar content.” The outrage extended beyond Maharashtra, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing that an FIR had also been filed in Guwahati on February 10. Assam Police has since summoned Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who was also part of the show.

The Fallout: Apologies, Deletions, and Regret

As the legal heat intensified, Allahbadia took to social media, issuing a public apology where he admitted to his “lack of judgment” and expressed regret over the incident. However, for many, the damage was already done.

Samay Raina, visibly overwhelmed by the backlash, took a drastic step—he deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel, erasing content that had amassed millions of views. In a heartfelt statement, Raina admitted that the situation had become “too much to handle”, but assured fans and authorities that he would cooperate with the ongoing investigations.

The Bigger Picture

This controversy has reignited the debate on the fine line between humor and obscenity, responsibility in digital content creation, and the consequences of unchecked online entertainment. While some argue that cancel culture is too harsh, others believe that influential figures must be held accountable for what they put out into the world.

As the case unfolds, all eyes are now on the Supreme Court. Will Ranveer Allahbadia succeed in getting the FIRs clubbed? Or is this just the beginning of a long legal battle?

Stay tuned as this controversy continues to develop.
